There are hotels that stand out from their surroundings and make their location a destination. And there are hotels that seamlessly bring out the best in a location and seem a part of its natural fabric — and with the highest respect and admiration, I think this is why the Hotel San Jose nails it as a must stay in Austin. Austin is an incredible place and the more time spent there, the more happier you become. And the same can be said about the Hotel San Jose. It is Austin — much more and better than the shiner chains on the other side of the Congress Avenue Bridge. Yet, despite its blending in so well, it does stand out as an oasis on South Congress. You feel great, relaxed and welcomed when you enter the gates of the Hotel. It’s less of a hotel and more of its own chill village, with every room having its own entrance and specialness. Loved the vibe, the staff (Nick was great — as was every staff member we came in contact with. I’ve never had a nicer check out experience today). I definitely want to go back. If I had to provide any feedback, i’d recommend enhancing the food offering (although, Austin is a superb dining city), more water in the rooms and evening turn down. But all in all, a great stay.
